The wine industry is an exciting and highly-competitive business, where management skills are at a premium. The course aims to equip graduates for careers in the wine industry, from vineyard management to wine retailing. An important objective of the course is to develop a broad awareness of business thinking, encouraging you to be highly-adaptable, open-minded and creative in your approach to business problems.

Who is the Course for?

This Wine Business Management MBA will meet the needs of recent graduates with at least two years of work experience; people working in the wine industry who wish to further their managerial career prospects, and those seeking a career change. It is designed to accommodate students from a wide variety of backgrounds and diverse disciplines who want to enhance their career prospects in the wine industry but also, due to the broad nature of the course, in general business management. The course is well-suited to overseas as well as UK students. A wide range of nationalities brings a breadth of experience to this highly distinctive course.

Most students study for the MBA full-time, completing it in 15 months. It is possible to study the course part-time over two, three or four years. You are able to choose the pattern, in consultation with the Programme Manager, which best suits you.

How is the Course Organised?

The taught course is made up of eight modules. Five core modules are delivered jointly with other business management courses. The focus modules are specific to the wine industry and give the course its distinctive flavour. If you can provide academic evidence of having studied the contents of a particular module, i.e. a degree in that subject, you may, with guidance from the Programme Manager and subject to timetable availability, substitute up to two modules with other postgraduate or third year undergraduate subjects.

Modules

  • Business Strategy

What is the Learning Style?

The emphasis is strongly vocational with theoretical material applied to real-world situations. These are supported by case studies, visits, workshops, and the College's network of senior level business contacts.
